They have a cord-like shape which is an adaptation for such cells to transmit impulses or messages for long distances. Sensory, or afferent neurons; they transfer evidence from the PNS to the CNS; various categories of sensory neurons can detect temperature, pressure, and light.

Interneurons connect sensory as well as motor neurons to the brain and spinal cord; they act as connectors to form neural circuits and are implicated with reflex actions along with higher brain processes like decision-making. Neurons have a cell body that resembles a star because of numerous dendritic projections.
Note: Neurons can be specialized and their structures differ from one another. It is of four types namely; unipolar, bipolar, pseudo polar and multipolar, but each has elements in common such as soma, or cell body and the nucleus.
