Hint: The single-celled prokaryotic microorganisms with various range of characteristics are called Eubacteria or true bacteria. These types of microorganisms are found in almost all conditions. They do not consist of membrane nuclei. The cell wall of Eubacteria is made up of peptidoglycans in a cross-linked chain pattern.
Complete answer:
Let’s discuss the two types of Eubacteria below:
> Cyanobacteria: The aquatic and photosynthetic bacteria that live in water and have the capability to make their own food is known as cyanobacteria. The size of the bacteria is small and unicellular in nature. The oldest known fossils are of cyanobacteria till now which is more than 3.5 billion years old. One of the most important and largest groups of bacteria found on Earth is cyanobacteria.
Some of the properties of cyanobacteria are:
- They have the capability to fix atmospheric nitrogen by means of specialized cells known as heterocyst in anaerobic conditions.
- In the water, the free-living cyanobacteria are situated on the rice paddies and also on the growing epiphytes.
- Hormogonia are the motile filaments of most cyanobacteria.
- The water which is calm and very little turbulent mixing, cyanobacteria growth increases such as ponds and lakes.
> Gram-positive bacteria: The bacteria that give positive results in the gram stain test are called gram-positive bacteria. The color of the gram-positive bacteria appears purple under an optical microscope after the gram stain test because it takes up the crystal violet stain. The cell walls of this type of bacteria are thick.
Some of the properties of gram-positive bacteria are:
- It is not covered by any type of outer membrane.
- There are various components in the cell wall of gram-positive bacteria which are surrounded by cytoplasmic membrane-like peptidoglycan, polysaccharides, teichoic acids, and proteins.
Note: So basically eubacteria live in the water. It is covered by a cell that helps in maintaining the strength, shape, and size of the bacteria during the changing environments. Some of the examples of eubacteria are Escherichia coli, Streptococcus pneumonia, etc. The eubacteria are of 5 types out of which 2 we have discussed. The cyanobacteria are the oldest and still present bacteria on the Earth whereas gram-positive bacteria are the stain positive in the gram test of bacteria.
