Hint:Vascular tissues are conductive tissues found in plants where multiple cell types are arranged in such a way that it allows for the transport of water, minerals and the products of photosynthesis to and from different parts of the plant and roots.
Complete answer:
A: Green plants produce sugars through the process of photosynthesis and these sugars produced will have to be transported to different parts of the plant. The phloem is made up of living cells called sieve cells and are responsible for this transfer of soluble sugar. The movement of this sugar is aided by the water brought by the xylem vessels which makes both the vascular bundles dependent on each other allowing the plant to survive.
B: One of the things photosynthesis requires is water. The only way for green plants to acquire sufficient water for this process is via the roots which can go deep enough into the soil and attain it. This process is regulated by a hollow, dead vascular tissue called xylem which creates a positive pressure and by a capillary action, as the water is evaporated from the leaves through transpiration; more water and minerals are able to enter the plant.
Note:
a) Passive transport- Movement of ions and molecules across cell membranes from a higher concentration to a lower one without the use of external or internal energy. Eg. Osmosis.
b) Active transport- Movement of ions or molecules across cell membranes from a lower concentration to a higher one, using energy. Eg. absorption of minerals across root hairs.
