Hint : Mica is one of the non-metallic minerals produced in India. It mainly has importance in the industrial fields; it is used as a raw material in the production of commodities like cement, fertilizers, electrical things, etc. Mica is found in the reserves of igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks; the states having abundance of these resources shall be the answer to this question.

Some of the major places in India producing mica are as follows-
Andhra Pradesh- contributes around 47 percent of total mica produced in the country. Nellore, Visakhapatnam, Krishna, Khammam, West Godavari are the major districts that are famous for mica production.
Rajasthan- here, the mica producing region Jaipur, Tonk, Ajmer, Bhilwara, and Sikar. It constitutes 26 percent of total mica produced in the country.
Jharkhand- the mica production here is confined mainly to the Koderma and Hazaribagh districts of Jharkhand. Koderma district is believed to produce over 50 percent of total mica production of Jharkhand state. Jharkhand accounts for the 10 percent of total mica production in India.
Bihar- Gaya and Nawada are the major districts known for mica production in Bihar; it accounts for nearly 9 percent of the country’s production.
Apart from the ones mentioned above, the other mica producing states in India are- Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh.

Mica is used as an ingredient in a variety of products such as drywalls, paints, fillers, parts for automobiles, roofing and shingles, electronics etc. It is found in the deposits of igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks.

Note : India has reserves of three main varieties of mica -Muscovite, phlogopite and biotite. A whopping reserve of 59,065 tonnes of mica is believed to be present in India in the form of in-situ reserves. However, due to the lack of technical advancements, India ranks 8th on the list featuring top mica-producing countries.
