Hint:A planet is an astronomical body that revolves around the sun or any other star like the sun that is massive enough to be rounded by its own gravity.

Complete answer:The term “planet” is very ancient and has its roots in history, astrology, science, mythology, and religion. Every solar system has a distinct number of planets that revolve around the Sun or any other star in specific imaginary orbits. These planets also rotate along their imaginary rotational axis. In our solar system, all the planets revolve around the sun and there are fixed orbits for them as well. The planet that is nearest to the sun is named “mercury” and this is the smallest planet in the solar system. Mercury is followed by the planet named Venus, then our planet Earth, then the red planet Mars, then Jupiter which is the largest planet in the solar system, then Saturn, Uranus, and lastly Neptune.

Note:The position of the planet in the solar system decides the time required by that planet to revolve around the sun. For example, it requires only 88 days to complete the total revolution around the sun, while it takes 12 years in the case of Jupiter and almost 165 years for Neptune to complete one revolution around the sun. If a planet is close to the sun, then the distance it orbits around the sun is fairly short this is due to the small orbital path of the planet.
