Hint: A nerve cell is also called neuron and is an electrically excitable cell that helps in communication with other cells with the help of specialized connections called synapses. It helps to transport signals from one cell to another cell and help in communication within the body cells.

Complete answer:
A nerve cell is a component of the nervous system in all animals except sponges and placozoa. Fungi and plants lack the nervous system and thus do not have nerve cells. Nerve cells are basically classified into three types which are sensory neurons which respond to stimuli such as touch, sound and light. Motor neuron is which receives signals from the brain as well as spinal cord to control muscles of the body. Interneurons are which help to transmit signals from one neuron to other neurons.

There are different types of nerve cells depending on the type of cell bodies. These are:
- Bipolar neurons
- Pseudounipolar neurons
- Unipolar neurons
- Multipolar neurons

> Bipolar nerve cells are located in the middle portion and have a single axon and dendrite on either side. These help in transmitting the signal from one neuron to another.
> Pseudounipolar is connected to the axon and the dendrite by a tubular projection as it is not directly connected to the two, the axon of this neuron splits into two branches at its end.
> Unipolar neuron is located on one end and has one axon and lacks dendrite at the other end.
> Multipolar are the neurons which have branched dendrites and have one axon at one end of the cell body. There are other types of neurons like myelinated and unmyelinated neurons.

Note: A group of neurons connected with each other is called a neural circuit and helps in forming the nervous system of our body. The neurons pass information from one cell to another in the form of electrical impulses.
