Hint: Immune responses of a human body can be defined as the process of self-recognition and self-defensive mechanism of the body against foreign pathogens such as bacteria, viruses and others.
Complete answer:
There are two major types of immune responses in humans named as innate immune response and acquired immune response.
Acquired immunity
The acquired immunity is also called adaptive immunity. It is a type of immunity that is acquired by an individual after birth in response to external environment or stimuli. Majorly there are two types of immune cells named as T-cells and B-cells.The acquired immunity is broadly categorized into four types, including natural acquired active immune response, artificially acquired active immune response, artificially acquired passive immune response and natural acquired passive immune response.
Innate immunity
The innate immunity is also called natural immunity. It is inherited in the offspring from the parents and it helps to defend the offspring throughout life. It is also referred to as a non-defensive system and physical barriers such as skin, blood components and others are included in it. Innate immunity involves barriers which forms the initial defense mechanism in the immune response by an organism. One of the examples of innate immune response if response of an organism towards cough. Innate type of immunity includes various types of barrier mechanisms such as physical barriers, enzymatic barriers (eg. lysozymes) anatomical barriers, phagocyte (eg. neutrophils, monocytes). The innate immune system performs very quickly. Such types of immune responses act on the external pathogens and deteriorate them as soon as possible. However, it has only restricted supremacy to prevent germs from distributing.
Note:The innate immune response is activated by chemical properties of the antigen. Adaptive immunity refers to antigen-specific immune response. The adaptive immune response is more complex than the innate.Adaptive immunity also includes a "memory" that makes future responses against a specific antigen more efficient.
