Hint: Both muscles and bones play a very important role in proper locomotion and movement in animals. Also there are various types of joints present in the body.
Complete answer:
1)Bones are connected with the help of joints which facilitates the movement of the bone. But the muscles also have a great role in the movement of bones; it prevents displacement of bones by keeping them intact in their original position.
2)The muscles also connect the bones with the outer body or sometimes it is also present near the joints which makes the joints much stronger.
3)The muscles can only pull the bones but it cannot push the bone back to its original position and this is the reason why muscles are known to work in pairs for movement of the bones. one of the muscles in the pair contracts and the other one relaxes simultaneously and the bone shows movement towards the contracted muscle. Now to bring the bone back to its original position again, the relaxed muscle undergoes contraction and the contracted muscle relaxes which brings the bone back to its original position. The muscle that contracts is known as the flexor and the relaxed muscle is known as the extensor muscle.
Note: The movement of muscle requires energy and that is why muscle fatigue can occur when the muscle undergoes movement for a longer period. For example, continuous exercise involves muscular movement which can lead to muscle fatigue due to increasing demand of oxygen by the body. Muscle fatigue leads to the slow movement of bones. Hence the movement of bones is dependent on the muscles.
