Traditionally, Khonds are forest-dwelling, hunter-gatherer tribal groups of India. Their colour ranges from light And deep shades, the heels are aligned with the back of the leg. Khond mutiny was amid other tribals from Ghumsar, China ki Medi, Kalahandi and Patna. The movement was led by Chakra Bishnoi who was a young Raja. Many causes of the rebellion have been identified, including the British Government stopping the Mariah Scheme (Traditional Human Sacrifice practised by the Khonds).

It was then joined by Savaras and a few other militia clans led by Radhakrishna Dandasena. Chakra Bisoi disappeared in 1855 And revolt also faded out.
During the revolt of 1857, Khonds provided significant help and assistance against the British army.
