Hint: During the oxidation of the stored glucose it is simply converted into different simple compounds after that these compounds get converted into ATP, NADH, FADH2 which are the form of energy which is consumed by the body.
Complete Answer:
- The oxidation of Palmitic acid occurs in mitochondria and the process of oxidation of Palmitic acid is known as kreb cycle.
- During oxidation of Palmitic acid 7 NADH , 7 FADH2, 8 acetyl co A formed during the 7 cycle of oxidation inside the mitochondria during processing of the Palmitic acid.
- When acetyl co A we get 3NADH, one FADH2 and one GTP and one GTP is equal to one ATP.
- Acetyl coA is the main product in the process of the kreb cycle and it is the product in the conversion of all metabolites.
- During the production NADH gets converted into 3 ATP and FADH2 gets converted into 2 ATP during the respiratory chain.
- After it’s all concluded that total 131 ATP formed during this process.
- But from these 131 ATP molecules 2 ATP molecules are utilized in the breakdown of the fatty acids that are formed Initially.
- So finally only 2 ATP molecules rest behind which are consumed by the body in a day to day routine.
Hence, 129 ATP molecules are formed during metabolism of Palmitic acid. So, option C is correct.
Note: The complete process of oxidation is conducted in the cell organelle mitochondria that is why mitochondria is known as the powerhouse of the cell. And this whole process is called respiratory breakdown of Palmitic acid.
