Electrical current is the flow of electrons through a metallic wire. We use this electron flow to work all the electrical appliances. But we have to always control this flow according to our need. This can be done by using switches, circuit breakers, earthing etc. If the electrons flow in the unconditional manner, then that will be a threat to the electric appliances as well as to human lives. So we always have to confirm whether every prevention method we have induced is properly working or not.
Earthing is such a prevention method used to avoid the dangerous effects due to the leakage of electrons in electric appliances. In an electric connection, we can find two wires with different red and black colours.
One is the neutral wire (black) and the other wire is live wire (red). Live wire is connected directly to the generators. And the neutral wire will return the electric current back to the generator. In addition to these two wires, one can find a green wire in a three pin connection. This represents earth wire, which helps to remove the excess flow of current. And thus keeps us safe from getting electric shock.
If metallic appliances are not connected to the earth wire, what happens when there is a leakage in electric current or when there is a short circuit it will cause damage to the electronic appliances.
