Dear Caroline,
How are you doing? I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to let you know that I have finally won the scholarship jacket! Exciting, right? But it wasn’t easy to win, I faced so many difficulties with the criteria alone!
As you know, I have had my eyes on this scholarship jacket ever since I joined this institution. I wanted to win it, and I knew I had it in me to win it. Imagine my shock when I got to know that my application was rejected for participation! I went to the Principal immediately and asked for the reason. The Principal told me that I did not match the age criteria, which had been implemented this year only.
I felt that this criterion was very unfair because I was a year younger than everyone in my batch since I had skipped a grade in school. Why were my batchmates eligible while I was not? They had not even let us know about this in advance!
Thus, I voiced my concerns to the Principal. The Principal initially said he could not help me, which made me feel dejected for an entire week. After a week, I got a call from a board member stating that my concerns were addressed in the board meeting and this criterion was being thus scrapped!
I was very happy. Needless to say, this experience made me even more determined to win, and I passed the test with flying colours.
Give uncle and aunt my regards, and don’t forget to write to me telling me what you think of this entire episode!
Yours lovingly,
Martha
