It consists primarily of methane. Marsh gas is produced by the anaerobic bacterial decomposition of vegetable matter and the rumen of herbivorous animals. It has the ability to self ignite, which is present in marshes and is visible mainly at night. The marsh gas has 50 to 80 percent methane gas.
Considering other options, Carbon monoxide, it is a poisonous gas, and mainly produced during incomplete combustion of methane gas. Also produced by gasoline, wood, propane, charcoal and other fuel. Inhaling carbon monoxide could give fatal outcomes.

Hydrogen sulphide is a gas that is commonly found in mining regions. It is found during drilling and production of crude oil and natural gas.
