Hint: Article 324 under Part XV of the Indian constitution grants the power of direction, control and superintendence of elections to the office of President and Vice-President, Parliament and state legislation is vested in the Election Commission.

Complete answer: Modern age is the age of democracy. In most of the countries, indirect democracy has been established under which people elect their representatives for a fixed period who run the administration during that period. The method by which people elect their representatives is known as Election.
Certain conditions which make an election democratic are as follows:
1. The elections should offer a genuine choice between political alternatives and individuals should be able to utilize this choice to remove the existing rulers if they wish so.
2. Every eligible resident should have one vote and each vote should have one worth. In other words, a democratic election is based on universal adult franchise.
3. The duration of the elections conducted should be regular, that is, every five years elections should be conducted.
4. The voters should be given the right to elect their own representatives by whom they wish to be governed.
5. Parties and candidates who wish to contest for the elections should be given free will to do so.

Note: The Election commission consists of Chief Election Commissioner and such number of Election Commissioner as the President may fix from time to time. An election can only be democratic when it is conducted within the limits set by the Indian Constitution.
