Hint: The full form of LPG is liquified petroleum gas and it is generally used as a household fuel. It is made up of hydrocarbons which are flammable and therefore it is used in cooking, vehicles and heating. It is also referred to as Autogas in vehicles. Also, it is heavier than air due to its high density as hydrocarbons are present in it.

Complete answer:
LPG is mainly prepared from natural gas processing and crude oil refining. LPG mainly consists of methane, butane and propane but butane is present in the largest amount as compared to methane and propane. At normal conditions LPG exists as vapors but when we apply pressure on it, it changes its state from gaseous to liquid. So, in households, it is stored under pressure so that it changes to a dense liquid. They are usually stored in bulk cylinders and are kept underground. We know that there are many fuels which damage the ozone layer so LPG is a replacement of such compounds as it is a blend of light hydrocarbons.

So, the correct answer is Option (D). i.e., methane, butane and propane.

Note: LPG is considered as a non – toxic so if there is a leakage of LPG gas it is not an issue as its contact with the skin is non – irritating unless it is evaporating in the form of a liquid. If LPG gas is evaporating as liquid it can cause cold burns or frostbite. Also, there can be a suffocation if LPG gas is combined with air.
