Hint: Sound is basically vibration that travels through a medium in a form of wave. As sound travels in the form of waves it has properties associated with it are frequency (or wavelength), amplitude, intensity, speed, direction. So here we will discuss sound which will help us to find the answer for the given question.
Complete answer:
Sound is produced due to vibration of an object which creates an energy (sound energy) which travels in the form of a wave and that is received or observed by the observer. The stronger the vibrations the louder the sound is produced. For example, if we stretch a string and then pluck it, it will vibrate and will produce a sound.
Now loud sounds are produced when more energy is transferred to an object resulting in a vibration of greater amplitude. So a loud sound will have higher energy or it is associated with higher energy.
As loud sound has greater energy therefore it will travel a larger distance.
Hence option A is the correct answer.
Additional information:
Feeble sound or sound of lower amplitude are called soft sound. Soft sound is associated with lower energy and travels lower distance. Hence if question asked about soft sound then the correct option would be B.
Note:
As the sound wave travels its amplitude degrades gradually and it becomes fainter. By changing the amplitude we can change the intensity or loudness. If amplitude is less than its intensity will be low producing feeble sound. Sound produced by thunder can be said to be loud.
