ISRO stands for the Indian Space Research Organisation. It is also known as the national space agency of the Republic of India with its headquarter in Bengaluru, Karnataka. It was founded by Vikram Sarabai on 15th August 1969. The director of the organisation is Kailasavadivoo Sivan. ISRO comes after its preceding agency which is Indian National Committee for Space Research (INCOSPAR). INCOSPAR itself was founded by Hon’ble first Prime Minister of India Pt. Some of the significant rockets launched by ISRO are Scramjet engine TD, GSLV, GSLV MK III, PSLV, ASLV, RLV-TD.

i) Reaching Mars: ISRO landed on Mars successfully at its very first attempt back in 2014. Other than ISRO, only NASA, the European Space Program and the Soviet Space Program are the organisation that has been able to do so.
ii) Launching 104 Satellites together: In Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, IT launched a notable number of satellites altogether belonging to various countries including the United States of America, United Kingdom and Germany
iii) Orbiter mission at Mars: It indeed is a significant accomplishment of ISRO. Back in 2013, ISRO launched its first-ever mars orbiter.
iv) CHANDRAYAN: India’s first mission to Moon by Chandrayaan was made back in 2008.
100th Space Mission: It marked its 100th space mission in the year 2012 by launching PSLV-C21 rocket into orbit.
