Complete answer:
We can say that the human heart is located within the thoracic cavity. The human heart is located in the space between the Lungs which is called Mediastinum.
- The anatomical position of the heart is as follows-
- The dorsal region of the heart is located near the vertebrate surface.
- The anterior surface of the heart is situated with an interior region of the sternum and cartilages.
- The base of the heart is located exactly at the third level of the cartilage.
- The inferior position of the heart was located in the midst of ribs adjacent to the cartilages.
- Right and left part of Heart is deflected at the anterior position and posterior position respectively. The diagram below shows the position of the heart in the thoracic cavity.
- Cardiac notch is defined as the depression that occurred at the medial region, inferior lobe of the left lung
- The size of the heart is directly proportional to the size of the fist.
- The anatomy of the heart is broad at the top and tapered at the basal region.
- The size of the heart: Length ( ), Width ( )and thicknesses ( )
-The weight of the Female heart is and the Male heart is
Note: The structure of the heart is identified to be similar to the Pinecone. The heart is located in between the Lungs i.e Mediastinum. The heart consists of the Right atrium, Left atrium, Right ventricle and Left ventricle. The arteries and veins carry blood to and from the heart.
