Hint: The lungs are the chief organs of the respiratory system in humans and several other animals. Only two lungs are located in mammals and most other vertebrates which are near the backbone on either side of the heart. Their purpose in the respiratory system is to take out oxygen from the atmosphere and transfer it into the bloodstream, and to discharge carbon dioxide.

Complete answer:
Lungs are the respiratory organs which are positioned in the thoracic void. The lungs are wrapped by the pleural membrane and positioned in two cavities on either side of the heart and are estranged into lobes by fissures.

The right lobe has three lobes, an upper, middle, and a lower, by two splits, one oblique and one horizontal whereas the left lung is divided into two lobes, a superior and a subordinate, by the oblique fissure. The gap between the membranes of the lungs is known as the pleural cavity which is packed by pleural fluid.

Hence, the correct answer is option (A).

Note: They are further divided into sections and then into lobules. Lobules are hexagonal partitions of the lungs that are the least subdivision visible to the naked eye. The left lung has only two proper lobes because of the space taken up on the left side of the chest cavity by the heart, although it does have the lingula, which is similar to a lobe. The left lung has a depression on the medial side of its surface known as the cardiac notch, a concave impression shaped to accommodate the shape of the heart.
