Conduction: The process by which heat is transferred from the warmer part of the body to the cold part of the body through the transfer of energy from particle to particle of the object without the any movement of the particles from their equilibrium positions is called conduction
Convection: The process by which heat transfers from one layer of a fluid to another layer by the displacement of the particles of the fluid is called the convection. Gases and Liquid transfer heat by the process of convection. For example: in winter, the atmosphere over the ocean is hotter as compared to that on the land. Hence the convection of the air flows from land to the ocean in the north -east direction. The convection currents of air take away the moisture while passing over the Bay of Bengal and cause heavy rain in the state of Tamil Nadu.
Radiation: The process of the transfer of the heat without heating any such medium from one region to another region is called radiation. For example, the heat from the sun reaches the earth through radiation mode. They can reflect and refract like light waves.
So, we can see that heat is transferred in a solid mainly by the process of conduction.
Note:By the process of radiation heat transfers from one region to another with the speed of light. Since, in the process of radiation photon particles are the carrier of the energy between the regions. It takes eight minutes for light to reach earth from the sun.
