Hint: We need to remember that water purification is the process of removing undesirable chemicals, contaminants, harmful gases or suspended solids from water. Mostly the water is purified for drinking but there are also many other things we do by purifying water like the pure water can be used in industries as well.

Complete answer:
Impure water can be purified by distillation.
Now we will discuss the process of distillation: Distillation heats untreated water until the water reaches its relatively low boiling point and begins to vaporize. The water’s heat is then kept at this temperature to maintain the water vaporization while stopping other elements from vaporizing. This also separates the water molecules from any microscopic disease-causing organisms .Once the water has vaporized, that vapor is then funneled into a condenser. It flows to a container by cooling and reverting to its liquid form. The impure water can be the water that is coming from factories, the water from the river, the water in sewers, or the water we are using in day to day life that gets wasted. All these categories of water come under impure class. Purification of water leads to many physical processes such as filtration, sedimentation and then distillation.

Note:
We need to remember that other purification techniques include boiling, activated carbon, reverse osmosis, desalination and many more methods. Water is a neutral solution thus it is having a pH value of $7$. Distillation removes all minerals from water, and the membrane methods of reverse osmosis and nanofiltration remove most too all minerals.
