Hint: The answer is based on the basic chemistry structure of the carbon where you can make a model with the help of some of the equipment used for the crafts like balls, card sheet etc.
Complete step by step answer:
- The concept of chemistry where the models for several topics which can be created is being carried out by us in the exhibition held in the classes where various atomic models and also several interesting facts could be known.
We shall now describe the steps required for the creating the model of carbon atom.
- Firstly let us understand the basic structure of carbon. Carbon has atomic number 6 and mass number 12. It has 6 protons, 6 neutrons and 6 electrons. The electrons revolve around the circular orbit. Protons and neutrons are concentrated in the nucleus and the electronic configuration is$1{{s}^{2}}2{{s}^{2}}2{{p}^{6}}$.
Now based on this, let us create a model.
- Firstly two colours of a set of balls are required with each of 3 pairs. 6 balls for protons and remaining 6 for neutrons. This can be differentiated because of two different colours.
- Secondly cut the card sheets in circular orbit form. 3 circles are required each of which is bigger than the other. This different circles represent three shells that is 1s, 2s and 2p
Make 6 smaller circular shaped thick materials so that the electrons so formed can be stuck to the card sheet.
- This, take all these into one form together by hanging it to the common string which shows the model of carbon.
Note: Note that instead of using the card sheet, some hard materials or some of the metallic plates or also thick wires can be used so that the model remains for longer duration.
