Hint: Blood has two components plasma and blood corpuscles. Good corpuscles include Erythrocytes(WBC),Leucocytes(WBC) and platelets (thrombocytes). Platelets help the formation of clots. A clot is a coagulation of blood. Platelet releases a variety of substances which are helpful in the clotting of blood.
Step by step answer:During an injury there is a mechanism to prevent the excessive loss of blood from the body. At the site of a cut over a period of time, there is a reddish-brown scum formed above the injury. The reddish-brown scum is a clot formed mainly of a network of threads called findings. Sometimes clot forms in an undamaged state due to slow down of blood flow, in this type of condition the clot prevents the flow of blood and leads to blockage of blood to the body which may result in death.
Hence option D is correct.
When a clot occurs in undamaged blood vessels the flow of blood to tissues beyond the clot may be site off.
Additional Information: Function of Blood corpuscles:
-Erythrocytes(RBC): RBC plays a role in the transport of gases. It has haemoglobin pigment that provides red colour and binds with oxygen to supply throughout the body.
-Leucocytes(WBC): WBC is known as a soldier of the body. They are the cells of the immune system involved in protecting the body against infection
-Platelet( Thrombocytes): It helps in the coagulation of blood and prevents the loss of blood during injury.
Note: Disease related to blood pressure, disease of heart valve are some reasons for slow down of the flow of blood which results in coagulation of blood in undamaged blood vessels. A reduction in the number of platelets can lead to clotting disorders which will lead to loss of blood from the body.
