Hint: Friction is defined as a force which acts between two surfaces while in motion. They act in a direction opposite to the motion of the body, hence they oppose the motion of the body. They help everybody not to slide every time.
Complete step by step answer:
The force which opposes the motion of a body and act between the surface and the body is known as friction. The frictional force act along the direction opposite to the direction of the body. They help everybody actually to pause their movement.
Now, let us come to the fact that what would happen if there was no friction.
With the help of examples we find it.
Firstly, in our daily life we walk on the road due to friction. If there was no friction we could not even walk, it would be just like slipping on oil.
Secondly, if there was no friction we cannot even produce heat and eventually fire. There could be no mankind as we consider fire as one of the greatest discoveries of mankind.
Thirdly, we could not put any object into any other or any surface as it would continue to slip till eternity. This would imply for everything and eventually everything may just continue slipping.
Fourthly, if there was no air resistance then the birds could not stop their flying.
Fifthly, frictional force helps to grab everything around us. If it was not present we could not hold anything.
Note: It must be noted that friction does not always help everything. It is a necessary evil. Friction causes the wear and tear of machines. They cause the parts of the machine not to work properly. They just jam the machine, where we need to lower friction by using grease or other lubricants.
