Hint: As we all know that we need to measure our weight, for which we need mass and the mass has to be well written to display it. A large object can be measured in tons or quintals whereas an atom cannot be measured in tons and quintals rather it is measured in amu.

Complete step by step answer:

When we measure large quantities that we use in daily life, then we can use kilograms or grams generally. But when we measure very small components like a chemical compound or an oil pin, then we generally measure in milligrams. Because if we write the weight of the small components then we have to use decimals or power of 10 with some minus in the superscript.

Therefore, the masses which are heavy enough for a human are generally measured in kilograms.

Additional information: We generally measure a rigid body by its mass but when we measure liquids we measure it by its volume since it is a fluid. When we buy a cold drink , it's written that it is around 250mL.It is not written that it is in kilograms or grams.

Note: We should keep in mind that the mass of a body always remains constant. It does not depend on gravity. For example, if we move from earth to moon, our weight could be changed since the gravity in the moon is one-sixth of the earth and we may feel some weightlessness but the mass remains the same. What we can say is that the mass is the quantity of matter packed.
