Hint : There are many compounds which consist of strong covalent bonds. It is a covalent bond where sharing of electron pairs takes place between atoms and these electron pairs are known as bonding pairs or shared pairs. When the sharing of electrons takes place then the stable balance of both repulsive and attractive forces between atoms is known as covalent bonding.
Complete Step By Step Answer:
Covalent bonding occurs between nonmetals or between two same elements. Some examples of compounds which makes covalent bonds are methane $ \left( {C{H_4}} \right) $ , carbon monoxide $ \left( {CO} \right) $ , and iodine monobromide $ \left( {IBr} \right) $ . Covalent bonding also occurs between two hydrogen atoms because they contain only one electron in their outermost shell so to complete their octet they share their electron with each other. There is another type of covalent bond which is a single covalent bond. These are nothing but just the sigma bonds which occur when only one pair of electrons is shared between atoms.
Note :
Covalent compounds exist as a solid, a liquid, or a gas at room temperature and normal temperature. Covalent compounds are poor conductors of electricity even if they are present in pure form or when dissolved in water. Covalent compounds have lower melting and boiling point as compared to ionic compounds. Covalent bonds are much more common than ionic bonds in organic chemistry. They also include many types of other bonding such as sigma bonding, metal-to-metal bonding, bent bonds, agnostic interactions and three-center two-electron bonds (also known as banana bonds).
