Hint: It is the main process after the maturation of primary follicle into the secondary follicle which then matures into tertiary follicle and finally in Graafian follicle.
Complete answer:
Oogenesis-initially in the ovaries mature female gamete is formed by the process called oogenesis. First oogonia undergoes mitotic differentiation producing primary oocyte in the fetal life. Then primary oocyte after the first meiotic division formation of secondary oocyte occurs during the period of birth, childhood and puberty. It remains in the secondary oocyte during this time and first polar body formation occurs. During the adult reproductive life formation of the ovum and second polar body takes place. The primary oocyte is surrounded by granulosa cells which is called primary follicle. Similarly secondary oocytes surrounded by granulosa cells are called secondary follicle. Secondary follicle the matures into tertiary follicle. Then this follicle further changes into mature or Graafian follicle.
-Ovulation
Hence the graafian follicle ruptures and releases the secondary oocyte or ovum from the ovary and this process is called ovulation.
This process typically happens around the day 14 of the 28 day menstrual cycle.
-Process of ovulation
This process is all controlled by hormonal change in the female body. The follicle stimulating hormone in the body during the 6 to 14 days of menstrual cycle helps in the maturation of the ovum and prepares itself to release egg later.
After the maturation another hormone released is luteinizing hormone triggering the release of egg after the 14 days of menstrual cycle. If the ovum meets the sperm before the luteal phase the fertilization takes place.
So the correct answer is OVULATION.
Note: During the process of mature follicle or graafian follicle various changes take place and oocyte undergoes many differentiation after which finally ovum is formed and the release of which is termed as ovulation.
