The manure is used to fertilize the soil and it also provides nutrients and minerals to the plants that are grown on that soil.

In a forest due to an ample number of animals, they decompose to give a huge amount of manure. This will fertilize a huge part of the land by the action of microorganisms. Hence, the plants grown will have fertile soil to grow.
