Hint: A pearl may be a reaction to an irritant within a mollusc. Pearls are formed when the molluscs start to secrete a lot of very thin concentric layers of nacre, a secretion of carbonate (aragonite and conchiolin) during a matrix that can coat an irritant, either artificial or natural.

Complete answer:
Pearl is also known as moti or Mukta. it's white, highly shining, a globular natural material found within the shell of an oyster which is from a mollusc.
Pearl formation: The formation of pearl occurs at the time of the defensive response of the oyster. Whenever any object from outside like a sand grain or a microorganism enters between mantle and shell, the mantle epithelium gets stimulated and surrounds the intruder completely. Then, the mantle epithelium starts secreting concentric layers and nears around the intruder. This continued process results in several layers of nacre and is secreted resulting in the formation of beautiful forms of pearl.
Types of pearl-
(i) Linga pearls
(ii) Seed pearls
(iii) Button pearls
(iv) Blister pearls.

Note: - Pearls can be found from either salt or freshwater sources. Typically, saltwater pearls tend to be of higher quality, although there are several varieties of freshwater pearls that are considered high in quality also. Freshwater pearls tend to be very irregular in shape, with a cold cereal appearance the foremost prevalent. Nevertheless, it's each individual pearl's merits that determine to value quite the source of the pearl.
-The phylum Mollusca contains soft-bodied animals who are mostly marine. Their body is unsegmented and divisible morphologically into distinct parts like head, muscular foot, and visceral hump. They are divided into six classes including Pelecypoda. In this class, the animals have a laterally compressed body.
