1.Mountainous region: The northern part of India is a mountainous region. The great Himalayas Ram from the Northeastern Northern and western part of India. A chain of very high mountain ranges makes up the Himalayas. The Himachal range, the Himadri range, and the Shivaliks are the three smaller ranges of this mountain range.
2.The Northern Indian plains: This region is flat and contains highly fertile soil. An extremely vast stretch of plains and Alluvial terrain make up the Northern Indian plains. Since the soil in this region is very fertile, thus the people who live in the northern plains have agriculture as a primary occupation.
3.The great Indian desert: Thar desert is the biggest desert in India that is distributed over Gujarat and Rajasthan. The desert region has a very dry climate and a Sandy terrain. These regions experience less than 50 cm of rainfall annually.
4.The peninsular plateau: The central highlands and the Deccan plateau constitute the peninsular plateau. One of the oldest landmasses of India are these regions. The hilly region of the Western Ghats is covered by the Deccan plateau and the hilly region of the Eastern Ghats is covered by the central highlands.
5.The coastal plains: Between the Arabian sea and the Western Ghats lies the Western coastal plains of India and between the Eastern Ghats and the Bay of Bengal lies the eastern coastal plains of India.
6.Islands: Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep islands are the two primary Islands of the Indian territory.
