Hint: Green Energy means energy derived from natural sources. These sources include the sun, water, etc. Green Energy sources are less harmful to the environment. The amount of radiation and chemicals they release is not much as compared to other sources.
Complete answer
Fossils fuels have been a source of energy for millions of years. Humans have used it most abundantly. Coal and petroleum form the most important fossil fuels. They are the non-renewable sources of energy that are available in a limited amount currently.
Fossil fuels are also a natural energy source. But we don't consider them as Green energy sources because they are not eco-friendly. They emit a large amount of smoke which depletes the condition of the environment. They emit greenhouse gases like carbon, sulphur and nitrogen on burning. The oxides of these gases are very harmful. They are responsible for the greenhouse effect. It raises the temperature of the environment. Also, it affects the health of living organisms. They might face several diseases due to this.
Although we take measures to reduce the intensity of these adverse effects, we cannot eradicate them.
We know that a source is a green energy source if it doesn't affect human beings, other living organisms and the surroundings.
As fossil fuels don't fulfil the above requirements, we cannot consider them a green energy source.
Note:
Fossil fuels take millions of years to develop. They don't form instantly. That's why we call them non-renewable sources. As it affects the environment so adversely and is not available in large amounts, we are now shifting to clean and renewable sources of energy.
