Hint: This gas contains \[{H_{2,}}CO, {\text{ }}C{O_2}\] normally and then final gas i.e. syngas prepared from all of these components. This information can easily take to the answer if analyzed properly.
Step by step explanation:
In the question asked about Syngas we will get a brief idea what is syngas and its formula and what are its uses in different fields.
So, syngas as its name suggests is an abbreviation for Synthetic gas which mainly contains Hydrogen, Carbon Monoxide and sometimes Carbon dioxide as well. Its name comes because it is used as an intermediate in creating Synthetic natural gas and natural gas is generally methane with formula \[C{H_4}\].
Normally syngas is used as fuel gas in electricity generation, to provide fuel power to internal combustion, also as sometimes in place of gasoline. Also used as an intermediate in preparing petroleum synthetic or fuel lubricant.
It is generally prepared by the coal gasification which is a mixture of \[CO,{\text{ }}C{H_4}, {\text{ }}{H_2}, {\text{ }}C{O_2}\]. It is also prepared from natural gas i.e. methane via steam reforming reaction whose reaction is depicted as follows: -
\[C{H_4} + {\text{ }}{H_2}O{\text{ }} \to {\text{ }}CO{\text{ }} + {\text{ }}3{H_2}\]
This mixture of \[CO{\text{ }}and{\text{ }}{H_2}\] is referred to as syngas.
It has a number of uses in synthesis as well as fueling purposes. Like it is used in water-gas shift reaction and also used in Fischer-Tropsch reaction which is generally used to prepare diesel fuels. It is also used as fuel in place of gasoline which is also a fuel (instead syngas was initially used as an alternative to gasoline only), also used in Haber’s process as well as to produce hydrogen gas.
So, we see Syngas and its formula and its number of useful uses for a lot of purposes.
Note: This is a gas which is important and has a number of uses and similarly there are few gases and chemicals which should be known like water gas, bleaching etc. which are as important as this question. So a basic knowledge of these topics and related topics should be known.
