The biosphere is said to have originated about 3.5 billion years ago and evolved from an abiogenesis process that eventually led to the process of biogenesis. The name biosphere was coined by geologist Eduard Suess in 1875. As a result, Charles Darwin, Matthew F Maury, Vladimir I Vernadsky, and Arthur Tansley contributed to the development of in-depth research into the biosphere. Sir Arthur Tansley introduced the term ‘ecosystem’, in 1935.
