Hint: The neuron is a single cell which is known to transmit signals from one end to the brain or nervous system of the body. Also, the neuron is considered to be the largest cell of the human body. The neurons are present throughout the body connected to each other.
Complete answer:
The neuron is the singular unit of the nervous system present in the human bodies. These neurons are connected to the receptors present in the body, so whenever the receptors get anything the message is conveyed to the neuron and then this neuron is connected in a chain formation with other neurons and connects to the brain. So, we see how a signal is conveyed to the brain by the chains of neurons.
Neuron consists of different parts which are axon, dendrite, nucleus, axon terminals. Each of these parts have a specific function like the axon terminal is the end of the cell where it gets connected to the other neuron. Dendrite is the part present at the front of the cell and it connects with the previous neuron and also the transfer of the signal is done at the axon and dendrite terminal of the neuron. The axon is a part which is elongated from the cell body till the end and the end of an axon is called an axon terminal. The axon is covered with Schwann’s cells and the myelin sheath which is a protein sheath responsible for the protection of the Schwann’s cells. The space between two Schwann’s cells is known as the nodes of Ranvier.
Note: The neurons function totally on the dependency of the receptors present in the body, like thigmo receptors inform neurons about the touch, olfactory receptors tell neurons about the taste, and phono and photoreceptors are responsible for information of light and sound.
