Hint: The cell is the basic functional unit of the body. There are various organelles inside the cell which are responsible for its proper functioning and also the machinery of the cell is capable of dividing on its own and thus increasing its number.
Complete answer:
The cell is generally consisting of different organelles which help it in proper functioning and dividing. The outer layer of the cell as we know is made up of plasma membrane or it is also known as the cell membrane. Then in the organelles we have ribosomes whose function is to synthesize the protein bodies which the cell may require. Also, the energy which is required by the cell to work properly is provided by the mitochondria. We have learnt this in our previous classes that the mitochondria are known as the powerhouse of the cell. The dispersion of waste products of the cell is taken care of by the Golgi apparatus or Golgi bodies. The genetic material of the cell is located inside the nucleus of the cell. The inside of the cell is filled with a fluid called cytoplasm.
The division of cells occurs by the process of binary fission whereas a single cell is divided into two daughter cells. All the machinery of the cell gets divided at the time of binary fission.
Note: The plant cells are not that much different from animal cells. Along with cell membrane the plant cells also have cell walls and a much larger vacuole as compared to animal cells. Plasmids are also there in plant cells.
