Hint: A bartholin cyst is an acute pain and bump in the vulva of females. A cyst occurs when water cannot clear out from the skin resulting in a pus.
Complete answer:
Bartholin’s gland is a pea shaped gland present on either side of vagina. They secrete mucus to help in the lubrication of the vagina. They have ducts that open into the vulva and help in secreting fluids which are important for lubrication during sexual arousal.
The gland consists of high potassium and low sodium concentrations relative to blood plasma and is slightly acidic in nature. They have a homologous association with the bulbourethral gland and cause cyst in some causes and leads to situations called baroclinities. It can turn more infectious and can lead to vulvar cancer.
Sometimes the Bartholin glands get blocked and swollen which leads to pain in that region. This condition is called Bartholin’s cyst. It can also get filled with pus becoming an abscess. Other conditions like Adenocarcinoma and tumour formation are seen in rare cases.
Bartholin’s cyst/abscess can be drained by making the incision into a lump and taking out the pus from there it helps in pain relief.
In some women there can be excessive bleeding and pain for long durations after the drainage. It is the surgical method done by the doctors to remove it completely.
If the infection is less than in homes we can do a hot water bath or by wetting in the tub charged with hot water and applying it on a cyst for many times in a day can also release the cyst in five six day.
Therefore it is found that surgical methods done by the doctors guarantee that cyst will not occur again.
It is found that 97 women out of 100 do not get cyst again after the surgical removal. This is the best method for cyst to completely remove (as it may not occur again).
Note: Bartholin’s glands are crucial in providing the lubrication of the vagina. If it is removed it may sometimes lead to infection in vagina. One can unclog the Bartholin’s gland easily by sitting in a hot water bath, which will help in the elimination of the cyst formed and hence unclogging it.
