Hint: The gravitational force is a force that attracts all mass-bearing objects.The gravitational force is referred to as attractive because it always strives to pull masses together rather than pushing them apart. In reality, everything in the cosmos, including you, is tugging on every other object. That is why this is always a pulling force.

The gravitational pull is responsible for many kinds of action occurring in our daily life all due to its tendency to pull the thing toward itself. Like if we take an example of throwing a stone in air the stone has the tendency to fall down due to the force of gravity due to earth acting on it. Similarly, when water is taken where it is at a certain height, it has the tendency to follow a path which directs it to the lower position.
If there is no way to move downwards it gets settled on the surface but it has a tendency to fall down or follow a path to move down.This has also the same reason behind it i.e. the gravitational pull. So, the water on the mountain too flows downward not upwards due to the gravitational pull by the earth.
Note: The gravitational force is the interaction of two mass objects i.e. the object on which the force acts and the earth itself. So, the Earth and the ball are the two mass objects in a falling ball.
