The medicine is a suspension of finely distributed and insoluble particles mixed and dispersed into the liquid phase.
Sometimes we can say that the suspension is the homogenous mixture of particles when they are big enough bigger in size to be visible by our naked eyes, i.e. at least their diameter must be greater than 1000 nm. There are 3 types of suspensions i.e. coil, leaf and torsion bar.

Do note that the medicine is the suspension and this is the main reason why we are instructed to shake the syrup bottle before taking the dose of the same. The vigorous agitating will evenly distribute the particle into the syrup and thus, the dose we take will have proper amounts of medicine.
