Hint: Dehydration is a condition where the body loses excessive water through excretion that causes a deprivation of water in the body.
Complete answer:
The integumentary system is made up of skin, nails, hairs, nerves, and different glands. The skin plays a great role in the prevention of dehydration.
The skin acts as a waterproof covering of the body as it is made up of substances like glycolipids and cells known as keratinocytes that are hydrophobic and prevents loss of water through the skin and also the skin is made up of three layers and thus prevents dehydration.
When the body is dehydrated, the antidiuretic hormone is released from the pituitary gland which absorbs water from the nephron of the kidney and brings the water level back to its normal level.
Along with the antidiuretic hormone, aldosterone also plays a great role in maintaining fluid balance.
Note: The aldosterone hormone does not absorb water, but it regulates the ions and electrolytes present in the body which indirectly maintains the fluid balance of the body. The aldosterone hormone is released by the adrenal gland.
