Hint: The endocrine system interacts with the muscular system and produces contraction and relaxation actions. Contraction and relaxation both events are important for the normal functioning of the body and the involuntary functions that take place.
Complete answer:
The endocrine system and the muscular system work in coordination to produce contraction and relaxation events in the body. The movement of the muscles initiated by the hormones is specific in certain cases such as uterine muscle contraction during delivery. But there are some other hormones as well which help in maintaining the muscularity of the body as well especially in males.
The pituitary gland releases human growth hormone (HGH) which after exercise burns fat and builds muscles. The growth of muscles depends on the proper release of HGH.
The corticosteroid hormone maintains muscle strength in the body. Steroid hormones are categorized for the building and maintaining musculature of the body especially in males.
The adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) produces testosterone in males which are steroid hormones and they help in the development of secondary sexual features along with muscles.
Oxytocin is secreted by the Posterior pituitary gland which works during delivery. Oxytocin makes the uterine muscles contract for the expulsion of the baby. Other muscles respond to nerve stimulus and contract.
Progesterone works in building the uterine muscles and preparing the uterus for receiving the zygote after fertilization.
Also, the endocrine system works by sending signals to the nervous system in case of lower body temperature and the nervous system, in turn, signals the muscular system to shiver and cause movement of the muscles which increases the temperature.
Note: All the signals sent by the endocrine system have an intermediate step to it. Before going to the actual site of action or before producing any effect they have to signal the nervous system and the nervous system then sends signals to the muscles as to what they have to do. Therefore, the role of the nervous system in the working of the endocrine system is very important.
