Hint: Polygons are the kind of closed figures that have their faces joined through the edges which are in a straight line. The vertex is a point where the two line segments meet each other. We can say that all polygons are considered two-dimensional shapes but all two-dimensional shapes are not considered as polygons.

Complete step by step answer:
In mathematics, there are two kinds of shapes, two-dimensional shapes, and three-dimensional shapes. A polygon is a kind of shape that is flat and it is a two dimensional shape that has straight sides and not curved sides.
Based on the sides and angles of the polygons, they can be classified into various types which are as follows.
If all the sides and the interior angles of the polygons are equal then it is considered a regular polygon. Some of the examples of regular polygons are square, equilateral triangle, rhombus, etc.
If all the sides and interior angles of the polygon are not equal then it is considered an irregular polygon. Some of the examples of irregular polygons are a kite, scalene triangle, rectangle, etc.
If all the angles that are on the interior side of the polygon are less than \[180\] degrees then it is said to be convex polygon. The vertex of this type of polygon will point outwards from the center of the shape.
If one or more angles of the polygon are seen to be more than \[180\] degrees then it is said to be a concave polygon. The vertex of this polygon will point towards the inside of the polygon. A concave polygon has at least four sides.
Various properties are related to polygon which are as follows-
The sum of all the interior angles of the polygon with n number of sides is given by \[(n-2)\times 180{}^\circ \].
The number of diagonals with n number of sides is given by \[\dfrac{n(n-3)}{2}\].

Note:
A polygon can have two types of angle-the first one is interior angle and the second one is an exterior angle. The area of the polygon is the region that is covered by a polygon in a plane that is two-dimensional and the perimeter of the polygon is defined as the total distance which is covered by the sides of the polygon.
