 A map is a visual illustration of a region’s figurative representation highlighting associations between elements of that space such as, regions, themes and objects. Whereas plans are a set of two-dimensional drawings or diagrams used to illustrate an object or place, or to communicate fabrication instructions or building. Usually, plans are drawn on paper, but they can be formed as a digital file. Although most generally they used to portray geography, maps can be represented as real, space, or imagine without regard to scale. Plans are mainly for technical purposes such as engineering, architecture, or planning. Their purpose is to unambiguously and accurately capture all the geometric features of a building, site, product or component. Not all maps are drawn to a scale. The reader cannot infer the actual sizes and distances between portrayed objects. Plans are generally to scale drawings, plans are drawn at a particular ratio in relation to the actual size of the object or place.

Over many years cartographers have skilled the art of putting the names on even the densest part of the maps.
