The President is mentioned in Article 52 of the Indian constitution. The election of the president is mentioned in article 54 and the procedure for impeachment of the president is mentioned in article 61. The present president of India is Ram Nath Kovind. He is appointed by the electoral college of India. The term length of the president is five years. The president also serves as the Commander-in-chief of the armed forces. The principal duty of the president is to preserve, protect, and defend the constitution. The chief justice of India and Attorney General is appointed by the president. It is stated in article 75 of the Indian constitution that India should have a Prime Minister who will be appointed by the president of India. This is the duty of the Prime Minister that he will determine which department will be allotted to a particular minister. He is also responsible to preside over the meeting of the council of ministers.
