Hint: First we define what ratios and what are rates, then we compare ratios and rates and find the difference between them . Ratio is a relationship between two things and the rate is a special type of ratio between two things . like , in ratios the numerator and denominator are independent but the rates the numerator and denominator are dependent one over the other.
Complete answer:
Definition of ratio: Ratio is a way to show a relationship or compare two numbers of the same kind of things, like in a bowl there are \[3\] red balls and $4$ white balls . Then the ratio between red balls and white balls is $3:4$
Definition of rate: A ratio of two quantities with different units . e.g., income per day, visited patients per hour etc.
In rates numerators depends on denominator dependent like runs per over and in ratios numerator and denominator does not depend i.e., ratios between man and woman or ratio between apple and mango in a bucket etc.
In rates, units are not the same e.g., km per hour , meter per second etc. and in ratios units are the same.
In rates the denominator is fixed, income per month , runs per over etc. and in ratios there are mutually exclusive numerators and denominators .
Note:
In other words we take some variables as $x$ km per hour. It says that rates between distance and time and if we take $x:y$ , it says that there are two mutually exclusive variables and we find the ratio between them . These are units less or the same unit.
