World War I or as it is called the “ Great war” was referred to as “ a war to end all wars”. It was a global war that originated from Europe from 28 July 1914 to 11 November 1918. After the assassination of the heir to the Austro Hungarian throne , Franz Ferdinand, many leaders regarded war as in their best interest and a complex web of alliances, felt that a general war would not occur. Instead ,there will be a vast outbreak of hostilities in 1914, among the most major European nations. On July 23, Austria served an ultimatum on Serbia and made eleven demands. Serbia accepted most of the demands but could not accept the ones that would have led to the loss of her sovereignty. Following Serbia’s reluctance, Austria declared war on Serbia on 28th July 1914. This war was the immediate cause of the First World War.
