Hint: In Burma, British rule lasted from 1824 until 1948. Burma is also referred to as "the Scottish Colony".

Complete answer:
When it formally proclaimed independence from Britain, Burma ended 60 years of colonial rule on Jan. 4, 1948. During World War II, Burmese soldiers fought with the British in June 1945 to expel Japanese invaders from Burma. By the end of the war, nationalist leader Aung San, whose anti-fascist movement was influential in the fight against Japan, had built a political and military power base from which to negotiate with Great Britain.

Many in Burma view Gen. Aung San as the father of independence for the region. It was his capacity to unify Burma's people that helped to end colonial rule. He is also the father of the Nobel Peace Prize recipient, Aung San Suu Kyi, who worked under house arrest for several years between 1995 and November 2010. Few people in Burma today even dare to publicly mention the name of Gen. Aung San for fear of angering their military overseers. Burma gained independence by making many conflicts with British. both militarily and politically.
The following events led Burma to independence:

During the Second World War Burma had been captured by Japan.
The surrender of Japanese brought British into administration.
In 1948 Elections were held and Burma was granted freedom.

Note:
To defend their Indian kingdom, Burma was acquired by the British. Aden, Egypt, and other locations came under British security or influence in the 19th century for similar reasons. Burma had wealthy trade.
