It comprises two groups of islands, the Andaman Islands and the Nicobar Islands, divided by the Ten Degree Sea, 150 km wide, with the Andamans north of this latitude, and the Nicobars south of this latitude. To the east lies the Andaman Sea and to the west is the Bay of Bengal.

Complete answer:
The following are the features of Andaman and Nicobar Islands:-
A group of 572 islands created by an underwater mountain range are the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The Indian plate clashed with the Burmese plate in the case of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The Indian plate broke off from Gondwana around 100 million years ago and began to travel northward and met the Burmese plate as the subduction took place between the two plates and the islands began to rise.

Note:There are 8 Union Territories as of 2020. There was only one Component D state when the Constitution of India was adopted in 1949: the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Three more were created by dividing each territory from the pre-existing states, Delhi, Chandigarh and Lakshadweep.
Another two were created from acquired territories that formerly belonged to non-British colonial forces (Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu and Pondicherry) (Portuguese India and French India respectively).
