Complete answer: Clastic sedimentary rocks are the outcome of erosion of inorganic materials, organic and chemical sedimentary rocks. They are categorized based on grain size, clast and cementing material texture. Example: Shale, sandstone.
-Chemical sediments are found from the ocean to deserts to caves. They are formed when mineral constituents in solution become supersaturated and precipitate inorganically. Biological procedures are significant in the formation of some chemical sedimentary rocks, particularly limestone and chert. Limestone is the most common chemical sedimentary rock.
-Organic sedimentary rocks are formed due to the proliferation and lithification of organic debris, such as leaves, roots, plant or animal elements. They contain significant amounts of organic carbon. Coal is the most common organic sedimentary rock.

Note: Weathering and erosion are the two main causes for the formation of sedimentary rocks. The most obvious trait of sedimentary rock is bedding. The common characteristics of sedimentary rocks are ripple marks and mud cracks.
