Hint: Lothal is located along the Bhogava River, in the Gulf of Khambhat where the archaeological remains of the Harappa port-town still exist. Lothal’s thick (12-21 meter) peripheral walls were designed so as to withstand the repeated heavy flood.

Complete step by step answer:
Lothal was one of the southernmost cities of the Indus Valley Civilization, situated near the village of Saragwala of Ahmedabad district. Within the quadrangular fortified city, Lothal had two primary zones – the upper and the lower town. The citadel or the upper town is located in the southeastern corner and is marked by platforms of mud-brick of up to 4 meters in height instead of a wall. Within the citadel, the streets are wide, with drains and rows of bathing platforms which suggests a planned city. The remainder of the lower town suggests that the area had a bead-making factory. At the north and southern end, an inlet and an outlet were identified which aided in maintaining the water level. The excavation done on the site of Lothal makes it the only port-town of the Indus Valley Civilization. Satellite images have shown that the river channel from Sabarmati River would have brought in a considerable volume of water during high tide, filling the basin and facilitating the sailing of boats upstream. The remains of stone anchors, marine shells traced its source to the Persian Gulf. The structure identified as a warehouse, further aids the functioning of the Lothal port. The presence of what is identified as a bead making industry further attributes Lothal as an industrial port town of the Harappan culture. The site is located in a rural agricultural landscape with very little vegetation. The excavated remains are protected and maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India.

So, the correct answer is Option :

Note: Set in the dried river bed, along a silted bed of the channel, tidal water can still be seen, in the archaeological site of Lothal. The remains have been blended post-excavation and are in a stable state of conservation.
