Hint: There are a number of environmental problems at global level. These problems are caused by the exploitation of natural resources. There are some measures that can be taken to save the environment such as by reducing pollutants that are harmful and by changing some habits, for example, by refusing to carry single-use plastic items which cannot be recycled easily.
Complete answer: Using the principle of three R’s i.e. Reduce, Recycle and Reuse, we can develop more environmentally friendly.
a) Reduce: It involves using less natural resources and avoiding the wastage of natural resources. There are some examples such as electricity can be saved by switching off lights, fans and other electrical appliances when not in use, turn off taps whenever not in use, repair leaky taps, use bucket instead of a shower, walking or using a bicycle to the nearby places rather than using motor vehicles and using public transport as much as possible because this would not only reduce the amount of pollution but save the precious fossil fuels as well.
b) Recycle: It involves separating wastes into recyclable and non-recyclable parts. Instead of extracting new paper, plastic and glass, the materials like paper, plastic, glass metals etc. should be recycled to make new things. In this process, waste materials are segregated between the two parts; as wastes that can be recycled and wastes that can be dumped. For example, it is not a wise idea to dump papers and plastic bottles with kitchen garbage or other waste materials.
c) Reuse: It involves using things again and again. There are some examples such as plastic bottles of jam and pickle can be used for not only storing things in the kitchen but for growing small plants also and used papers can be reused for making envelopes.
Note: Environment is a place where living and nonliving things interact. It consists of two components; biotic and abiotic. One of the effective methods to save our environment is by educating people about the environment.
